The North Korean military said Tuesday that its missile and artillery units will enter a combat-ready posture.

In a statement, the North's Supreme Command said it will "show off our armed forces and people's firm determination to safeguard the country's sovereignty and highest dignity through substantial military actions."

The North cannot overlook any longer the situation in which its sovereignty and highest dignity have been eroded and U.S. nuclear threats and menace have spread, the statement said.

The statement said the field artillery, including strategic rocket and long-range artillery units, target not only the mainland U.S., Hawaii, Guam and other U.S. military bases in the Pacific but South Korea.

The North will display "our armed forces' rock-solid determination to the South Korean puppet authorities," which support the U.S. hostile policy on the communist state, through physical actions, it said.
