Brazil is pushing to hold a friendly football match with Germany, months after its disastrous 1-7 defeat to Germany in the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2014, a top Brazilian football official said. Jose Maria Marin, president of the Brazilian Football Federation (Confederacao Brasileira de Futebol, CBF), made the remarks in an interview with the O Estado de Sao Paulo newspaper published on Wednesday (local time).

Under new head coach Carlos Dunga, the Brazilian national football team defeated Colombia and Ecuador in recent friendlies. Dunga's first squad for the friendlies against Colombia and Ecuador included only 10 of the 23 men who played the World Cup in Brazil.

Brazil lost 1-7 to Germany in the World Cup semi-final that stunned the host nation. Moreover, Brazil lost 0-3 in its World Cup third-place soccer match against the Netherlands.
