The 22-man roster includes veteran striker Lee Dong-gook of Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, who is a record scorer in the K-League, and defender Cha Du-ri of FC Seoul who played 11 years overseas with seven German clubs and one Scottish team.
Arsenal striker-turned-free agent Park Chu-young was dropped from the list made public by Stielike at the Korea Football Association's (KFA) building in central Seoul.
Also included in the roster were Park Joo-ho, a left back currently playing for FSV Mainz 05 in the German Bundesliga; goalkeeper Kim Seung-gyu of Ulsan Hyundai; and forward Kim Seung-dae of Pohang Steelers.
Stielike, who was named to coach the South Korean national team on Sept. 5, is scheduled to make his South Korean team debut in a friendly against Paraguay on Oct. 10 in Cheonan, South Korea. Another friendly against Costa Rica will be held on Oct. 14 at Seoul World Cup Stadium.
Stielike's predecessor, Hong Myung-bo, resigned in July in the wake of the country’s worst World Cup performance at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. South Korea failed to advance to the round of 16 in Brazil with a draw and two losses in Group H preliminary matches.
