Hyundai-Kia group outperforms Toyota in US midsize sedan market in Nov.

South Korea's Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group outperformed Japanese automaker Toyota in the U.S. midsize sedan market in November, according to industry sources Sunday.  

Sales of Hyundai and Kia's midsize cars soared 13.9 percent to 31,222 units in November from the previous month, the sources said. It was the first time that the Hyundai-Kia group has taken the top spot in the U.S. midsize sedan market since October last year. 

Sales of Hyundai Motor Co.'s Sonata midsize car soared 19 percent to 18,515 units in November from a month ago, while its sister company Kia Motors sold 12,707 Optimas (K5s in South Korea), up 7.3 percent from October.

Sales of the Toyota Camry, on the other hand, dropped 13 percent to 28,846 units in November from 33.164 vehicles tallied in the previous month, the sources said.

Midsize car sales in the United States decreased 1.4 percent month-on-month in November.  

In November, the Hyundai-Kia group's share in the U.S. midsize sedan market stood at 18.8 percent, compared with 16.6 percent for Toyota.
