Paris South Korean urbanites' top tourist destination: survey

Paris has emerged as the top tourist destination of people living in large South Korean cities, a survey said.

When asked do you have a favorite travel destination or place abroad?, 14 percent of respondents chose Paris, followed by New York (9 percent) and Sydney (5 percent), according to the survey of 403 people aged between 18 and 64, who live in Seoul and Busan. The poll was conducted by Master Card. The pollees were allowed to give multiple answers.

The survey, released on Monday, also said that 55 percent of those questioned said they wanted to travel to the United States, followed by Australia (53 percent) and Canada (42 percent).

About 59 percent of respondents said they made at least one overseas trip last year. Of them, 84 percent said they have a similar plan this year.

The per-capita overseas travel spending by those interviewed reached 1,668,926 won, the survey said.
