Next-gen VR gaming gear hot in G-Star

G-Star, An annual gaming exhibition on its eleventh opening, is filled with hot gaming gears with the latest technology Such as “Virtual Reality” (VR).

Featuring over 600 game developers from 35 countries, the four-day international gaming festival at Busan’s BEXCO Convention Hall had approximately 45 thousand visitors and the officials expect more than 200 thousand visitors will visit the exhibition by the second day.

The most favored theme this year was VR. Sony Computer Entertainment Korea (SCEK)’s booth was the hot-zone. To experience Sony’s “PlayStation VR” for the first time in Korea, Visitors waited in long lines.

Playstation VR, which supports 1920x1080 resolution with its 5.7 inch OLED display, has viewing angles of approximately 100 degrees wide. It is equipped with gyro sensors and 3D audio system. When playing a game compatible with PlayStation VR, to look at wherever gamer wants, all he has to do is to turn his head.

NVIDA’s booth, a chipset maker specialized is graphics, was also filled with enthusiastic visitors. “Oculus Rift” and “HTC Vibe” were available to experience test versions of NVIDIA’s new VR games.

Ever since the first Oculus Rift, A VR gear, launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign in September 2012, gaming fans have been dearly waiting for it or other VR headgear’s release. Because VR gaming gears were around since the 80’s but they were just too expensive for normal gamers.

The VR gears that were announced in G-Star will be ready for retail markets starting late 2016.
