Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu claimed that the Islamic State (IS) is responsible for the suicide bombing which left 10 dead and more than 15 injured in Sultanahmet district, Istanbul on Tuesday.

“We have determined that the perpetrator of the attack is a foreigner who is a member of Daesh,” the prime minister said. Daesh is an Arabic acronym for IS.

“Turkey won’t backtrack in its struggle against Daesh by even one step. This terror organization, the assailants and all of their connections will be found and they will receive the punishments they deserve.”

However, there is no claim of responsibility. Some experts in international affairs and terrorism think there is a chance that other organization from IS could have committed the atrocity.

The bombing was carried out on Tuesday morning. Eight of the victims who lost their lives were of German nationality. Peruvian government had clarified that a Peruvian man is among the dead. German government sent out an urgent warning to Germans who are in Turkey, telling them to avoid the crowded place and landmarks.

The bombing spread a shock in the international community as the site of the bombing is a famous spot for tourists. Thousands visit Sultanahmet district to visit the famous Blue Mosque and other Turkey’s historical places.
