South Korea’s largest web portal Naver launched beta service of “DATA LAB” (www.datalab.naver.com) on Thursday. DATA LAB is a big-data portal which its users can easily access statistics and data issued by government offices, private enterprises, and other organizations such as research companies and survey companies.

DATA LAB provides its users with unique user experience by sorting out numbers and displaying them in an infographic like interface. It’s easy to simple and easy to use. Until now, if a user wanted to search for certain data, he or she had to visit various websites and search for an individual data.

Although DATA LAB is in its beta service, the fact that it’s the first of its kind to unite resources from various organizations to have it sorted out and displayed on a screen makes it a very new concept. Especially when compared to previous Korean web-services which were not exactly user-friendly.

DATA LAB also provides its users with real-time rankings of search keywords. The keywords are categorized into various sections. Its users can find out what’s in trend with a few clicks and a glimpse. Accumulated search keywords data dates back up to 2005.
