The company most favored by young South Korean job seekers is not tech giant Samsung Electronics but Naver, the country's largest and influential Internet portal, according to a job survey published on Thursday.

The survey of 1,357 college students, conducted by Incruit, an online recruitment service, found that ten percent picked Naver as the most wanted among 160 companies. It betrayed expectations as Samsung, the country's trademark company, has been well known for high payment and good benefits.

Samsung Electronics was at a distant fourth with 3.7 percent. CJ Cheijedang, a
food and beverage unit of the CJ Group, was second with 4.5 percent, followed by cosmetics company AmorePacific with 4.3 percent.

Naver earned high marks for its growth, development potential and corporate vision, Incruit said, adding the portal would maintain its popularity among young job seekers in view of their age and the fact that it's a familiar brand among Internet-friendly generations.

The top ten included three public corporations, reflecting the trend of job seekers who want secure jobs.
