German TV maker Loewe Technologies GmbH will roll out its first organic light-emitting diode (OLED) TV later this year to tap into the premium market dominated by South Korea's LG Electronics Co.

Loewe's OLED TV, called "bild 7," will be available in the European market starting September in 55 and 65 inches for 4,990 and 6,990 euros (7,740 US dollars), respectively, industry sources said Tuesday.

The sources said the German TV manufacturer made no mention of the High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology but that it is likely that HDR will be supported since the new model will be based on OLED panels from LG Display.

The HDR technology allows screens to deliver vivid displays by optimizing brightness depending on colors, boasting improved quality compared with previous Ultra HD TVs.

The world's market for HDR TVs, which is expected to reach 2.9 million units in 2016, is set to gradually advance to 32.6 million units in 2019, data compiled by industry tracker IHS showed.

LG Electronics is the dominant player in the global OLED TV market, with more than 90 percent shares in terms of sales.

IHS forecast the global OLED TV market to expand more than three times this year from 2015, with worldwide shipments rising to 1 million units from 340,000.
