The global "Pokémon Go" craze spread to the mixed martial arts (MMA) ring as British fighter Michael "Venom" Page wearing a Pokémon-themed hat threw a "Poké Ball" at a downed opponent. Poké Ball is an item used to capture defeated Pokémons after a battle.
The celebration took place during last weekend's "Bellator 158". It's the first Pokémon-themed ceremony in the MMA ring.
In the second round, Page pulled out a Poké Ball from his corner after flattening Brazilian fighter Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos with a flying knee kick and rolled it towards Santos.
Although Santos may have survived from being captured by a Poké Ball, he sustained a serious injury with a fractured skull and swollen brain. His ex-wife left a post on Instagram: "The doctor said this very easily could have been life-threatening."
