South Korea will introduce a pilot travel program to Chinese bikers, allowing them to cycle along cross-country riverside bike trails from Seoul to the southern port city of Busan, a state agency said Monday.

Cycling trails have been built across South Korea, stretching along four major rivers. The Seoul-Busan route is one of the longest and most challenging routes.

The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) said it would launch its pilot program for Chinese bikers in October. If the project is successful, the state agency plans to set up regular tour programs for Chinese bikers next year along with Taiwanese bike company Giant Bicycle.

Ahead of the October project, 26 Taiwanese bikers travel on a five-day cycling trip from Seoul to Busan on Tuesday, led by Giant CEO Tony Lo.

KTO has also introduced 30 beautiful biking routes dotted with river parks and a variety of tourism content such as scenery, food and local culture. Famous routes include a trip near the demilitarized zone that splits the Korean peninsula and biking on the southern resort island of Jeju.
