Chinese smart device maker Xiaomi claimed its latest flagship "Mi 5s" has a better camera than Apple and Samsung smartphones. To prove its claims, the Chinese company released an image comparing the quality of photographs taken by its Mi 5s, Apple's iPhone 6S Plus, and Samsung's Galaxy S7 Edge.

Xiaomi released a new lineup of its flagship smartphones Tuesday -- Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus. The Mi 5s features 3GB of RAM, a 5.15-inch display with the latest Sony IMX378 13 megapixel CMOS sensors installed on both its rear and front-facing cameras. The larger-sized Mi 5s Plus features 4GB of RAM and a larger 5.5-inch screen but other specifications are basically the same as its smaller brother Mi 5s.

Xiaomi also released results from a series of tests involving professional photographers. Some 49 percent said the Mi 5s has a better camera than iPhone 6S Plus and Galaxy S7 Edge. Also, 55 percent of the users who participated in a blind test said the Mi 5s' camera is better.

The 64 GB version of Mi 5s is priced at 1,999 yuan (298 US dollars) and the 64 GB version of Mi 5s Plus is priced at 2,299 yuan. Considering that an unlocked version of Apple's iPhone 7 is being sold at Amazon.com for 806 dollars and Samsung's Galaxy S7 Edge for 601 dollars, Xiaomi's latest smartphones are priced at an attractive range.
