Oman agreed Tuesday to support the participation of South Korean companies in its energy and infrastructure projects worth 27.1 billion US dollars, the South's trade ministry said.

The agreement came at a regular economic cooperation committee meeting between the two countries, the ministry said. Oman will allow South Korean companies to participate in a series of projects related to refinery, petrochemical, underwater gas pipeline, railway and other facilities, it said.

The two countries will launch a working-level group of civilian and government experts for cooperation in renewable energy and an energy storage system. Oman plans to produce 10 percent of its energy output in renewable energy by 2020.
