South Korea's major pizza chain, Mr. Pizza Korea (MPK) Group, said Monday it has opened its second pizza outlet in Bangkok as part of efforts to expand its presence in the Southeast Asian market.

MPK said its second store was set up at the weekend in the Promenade mall in Bangkok's Ram Inthra road, a major shopping and commercial district, following the opening of its first outlet in the city in May.

The group plans to open more outlets in Bangkok and elsewhere this year and next year. South Korean food and culture have gained popularity in Thailand and other Southeast Asian countries, helped by the Korean pop culture "Hallyu".

MPK is a restaurant group based on a handmade muffin and coffee franchise, Italian buffet restaurants, and a premium pizza chain with hundreds of outlets at home and abroad. Due to tough competition at home, the group has expanded its business abroad. This month, MPK agreed with India's fast food chain Cafe Buddy's to set up a franchise joint venture.
