South Korea's highest court ruled Friday against a doctor who was found guilty of allowing disgraced swimming icon Park Tae-hwan to use a banned anabolic steroid.
A district court slapped the doctor with a fine of one million won (847 US dollars) for injecting Park with the steroid Nebido to boost his testosterone levels with no proper warnings. The doctor had appealed but the Supreme Court upheld the lower court's decision.
The only South Koran Olympic gold medalist in swimming received an 18-month ban after testing positive for testosterone in 2014. After his suspension was lifted in March, the Korean Olympic Committee barred him from competing in the Olympics in Brazil.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld Park's appeal on July 8, allowing him to go to Brazil. He came home without winning any medals.
