South Korean singer-actor Rain will come back to the music scene in January next year with his first new album in three years following his focus on TV dramas, his management agency said Tuesday.

Jung Ji-hoon, better known as Rain, is working on a new album to be released in January, his entertainment label, R.A.I.N. Company, said without disclosing the exact date for his comeback.

That will be his first album since the 34-year-old released "RAIN EFFECT" in January 2014.

The singer gained fame for his song "It's Raining," sweeping Asian charts upon its release in 2004. He has also pursued a career as an actor and producer by starring in Hollywood movies such as "Speed Racer" and "Ninja Assassin".

Prior to his acting debut, Rain has become a popular singer across many Asian countries and in other parts of the world. The singer last appeared in the SBS drama "Please Come Back, Mister" that aired in early 2016.
