South Korea's central bank agreed Thursday to issue its first commemorative note in an effort to help publicity of the 2018 Winter Olympics in the eastern ski resort of Pyeongchang.
The Olympic note with the par value of 2,000 won (1.69 US dollars) will be issued in the fourth quarter of next year, according to the Bank of Korea. That will be the central bank's first commemorative note.
The front side of the note will feature images of seven winter sports events such as figure skating, ice hockey, curling, and biathlon. The other side will show a tiger and a pine tree.
