Singer-actor Rain announced his marriage this week with actress Kim Tae-hee, touted as "Nation's Goddess", capping their open four-year relationship.

The marriage at a cathedral on Thursday will be attended only by family members. The two started dating in the fall of 2012 and confirmed their relationship[ in January 2013.

"I am going to become a good husband and man as the head of one family," Jung Ji-hoon, better known as Rain, wrote in a handwritten letter posted on his Instagram.

"Whenever I was in hard times or happy, she has kept my side, impressing me in many ways," he said, adding he has arranged a "quiet and pious" ceremony given a difficult political and economic situation.

The news came after Rain, 34, released a music video Sunday for his comeback track "The Best Present", featuring Psy, a South Korean singer who gained international fame with hit global hit song "Gangnam Style". That's his first new album in three years following his focus on TV dramas.

The singer gained fame for his song "It's Raining," sweeping Asian charts upon its release in 2004. He has also pursued a career as an actor and producer by starring in Hollywood movies such as "Speed Racer" and "Ninja Assassin".

Prior to his acting debut, Rain has become a popular singer across many Asian countries and in other parts of the world. The singer last appeared in the SBS drama "Please Come Back, Mister" that aired in early 2016.

Kim, 36, graduated from Seoul National University with a bachelor's degree in fashion design in 2005. She has been considered to be one of South Korea's most beautiful women.

In 2013, Kim starred in her first historical period drama "Jang Ok-jung, Living by Love", followed by another period role as the wife of famed Chinese calligrapher Wang Xizhi in the Chinese television drama Saint Wang Xizhi.

She returned to Korean television in 2015, playing an heiress who recovers from a coma with the help of a doctor-for-hire, the titular Yong-pal.
