A "capsule" hotel furnished with modern convenience run by a smartphone made its debut Friday in South Korea's gateway for transfer passengers and those arriving in the dead of night.

The hotel was installed in the underground complex of Incheon International Airport west of Seoul and split into two sections with 30 rooms each. The guest room is a little larger than a true capsule widely used in Japan.

There are four types of rooms: single bed, double bed, single bed plus shower, and double bed plus shower. Prices range from 7,000 won (5.94 US dollars) to 11,000 won per hour.

Each guest room is equipped with wireless internet connection and a keyless electronic lock. The wall was made of new materials to reduce outside noise. Clients using their smartphones can control light and temperatures, and make electronic reservations and check-in.

The capsule hotel, developed in Japan, provides cheap, basic overnight accommodation for guests. The guest room is a modular plastic or fiberglass block. Facilities differ, but most include a television, an electronic console, and wireless internet connection.
