LG's latest flagship, G6,  unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, is water tight and has a 5.7-inch display which is slightly narrower in width and longer in length than other smartphones.

LG, however, plans to sell two different versions of its new smartphone. A DAC (digital to analog converter) installed model targets the South Korean market while the other model supports wireless charging for North America.

"We have matched the DAC model for South Korean consumers which prefer devices with better audio quality. For North American consumers, we prepared a wireless charging model," an LG official said.

G6 has a more optimized version of DAC to provide users with a much-improved listening experience. Some experts speculate LG has pulled the wireless charging feature out from the South Korean model to support LG Pay, a rumored mobile payment system similar to Samsung Pay.

While a magnetic wire coil unit in the smartphone can be used for wireless charging, it could also be used for Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST), a technology used by many mobile payments. By using MST, the magnetic wire coil mimics the magnetic strip on a traditional payment card for use at any stores equipped with magnetic strip readers.
