Cyberbullying targeting celebrities has been on the rise. Last year, famous artists such as IU and Suzy took legal actions and tens of people have been fined. But Nam Tae-hyun, a former member of boy group WINNER, took a different stance.

The 22-year-old singer-songwriter uploaded a post on his Instagram Wednesday saying he would withdraw legal actions. "I would like to extend my thanks and apology to fans who are concerned about me," Nam said. "I decided to drop my suit this time (malicious comment, rumor-mongering and defamation)."

Nam vowed to take action again if cyberbullying continued after his new album was released.  However, he deleted the post later, sparking speculation that he might have felt a psychological burden from widespread attention.

Hostile fans started criticizing Nam's poor acting in a TV drama "Midnight Restaurant" in 2015.  Along malicious rumors about his school life, he was hit by a concerted attack from WINNER fans when he left the group.
