An image showing a smartphone purported to be Samsung's upcoming phablet Galaxy Note 8 was leaked by a Twitter user.
/LEAKS (@Slashleaks), a well-known source of information related to yet-to-be released smart devices, uploaded the image and wrote "Alleged Galaxy Note 8 smiles for the camera". The image, which is speculated to be of Chinese origin, shows a large phone in a similar shape to Samsung's latest flagship Galaxy S8, unveiled at the end of March.
The purported Note 8's screen displays Samsung's artificial intelligence assistant Bixby. The phablet also has "S Pen", Samsung's unique stylus pen, placed on its side, suggesting this purported Note 8 is the real thing.
However, another respected Chinese leaker "mmddj_china" has different thoughts, suggesting the new phablet would be foldable. The expert uploaded an image from Samsung's patent filing, showing a smartphone with a foldable screen.
Samsung has not disclosed any details regarding Note 8, but experts speculate it will be released during the latter half of the year.
