Excerpts from the text of President Moon Jae-in's speech at his inauguration ceremony Wednesday:

My heart is burning with a sear passion for creating a country which no one has experienced before. My head is filled with blueprints for the whole new world of reform and unification.

--  From now, I will be the people's president. I will devote myself to serve every citizen.

--  I will boldly break away from bad customs of the old times. I, myself, will start as a totally new president.

--  I will stand right next to my staff to share opinions. I will also intercommunicate with the people. I will be the one to make press briefings on important matters. I would have a heart-to-heart talk with the people at marketplaces on my way back home. I will hold open debates at city squares.

-- National security issues will be handled immediately. I would do everything to bring peace to the Korean peninsula. I will fly to straight, if necessary, to Washington. I will go to Beijing and Tokyo. as well as Pyongyang when the condition is right. The Korea- US alliance will be strengthened. To resolve problems surrounding the THAAD, I will sincerely negotiate with the United States and China.

-- Efforts will be made to enhance our self-reliant defense potential. Also, footstones will be placed in order to solve the North Korean nuclear issue.

--  I will be a president to wipe tears off your face.  I will humbly communicate with the people to create the strongest country. I will not be an authoritative, ruling president. I will be a friendly, warm president who always stands next to the people.
