Girl group SISTAR will disband after a successful seven-year run. The girls will end all activities after their promotion for a new single in June, said the group's agency.

SISTAR's dissolution was somewhat unexpected, especially when the group reportedly left for Macau to film its new music video for an upcoming single due for release on May 31. Starship Entertainment said the group would disband soon after they finished all activities related to the single.

All four members expressed gratitude and regrets in handwritten letters uploaded onto their fan community. "SISTAR members will go on their own way to seek a new life. We will always support each other in the future," said Hyorin and Dasom.

"Whenever we were happy or tired, fans were always there right beside us," said Soyu. "Because of you, we were able to make it this far."

Experts say that members are likely to stay with Starship Entertainment because Hyorin and Soyu are expected to pursue their career as musicians while Bora and Dasom hope to become actresses.

SISTAR debuted in 2010 with a single "PUSH PUSH". The girls soon captured South Korea with their unique pop-dance tracks. The group also built an image as sexy-divas, outstanding in both singing and dancing. SISTAR has released all-time favorites such as "SO COOL", "SHAKE IT" and "MY BOY".
