Two large ferocious dogs, let loose from their home, went on a midnight rampage in a residential area in Seoul, chasing residents and viciously biting two victims.

The two dogs of foreign breeds -- Dogo Argentino and Presa Canario, both notorious for their large muscular body and aggressive attitude -- escaped their home at around 11:20 pm (1420 GMT) by sneaking through an open gap in a gate.

Outside, the canine duo started chasing a man, who suffered an injury after tumbling to the ground, and attacked a couple. After being suppressed by passing residents, a firefighter fired a tranquilizer gun to kill the Dogo Argentino. The Presa Canario was shot with a net gun and sent back to the cage.

A husband was slightly injured but his wife was hospitalized after being bitten in her neck, chest and leg.  The owner of the dogs was charged with negligence. In May, an elderly woman was bitten to death while feeding her dogs at her kennel. Last year, a pitbull terrier killed a two-year-old baby.
