South Korean warships and jet fighters staged a joint live-fire drill with guided anti-ship missiles and other weapons in a simulated attack on North Korean vessels, the defense ministry said.
It marked the second day of saber rattling by South Korean troops this week, prompted by North Korea's surprise long-range ballistic missile test that heightened tensions in Northeast Asia.
The sea drill was staged off the east coast, a day after US and South Korean troops fired a barrage of missiles targeting North Korea's leadership in a joint operation that followed an agreement between US President Donald Trump and South Korean President Moon Jae-in to send a strong message to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
