The iconic American rock band Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington's body was found in his Palos Verdes residence on Thursday morning. He hung himself after battling alcohol and drug addictions for years. He was 41.

The chief of operations for the Los Angeles County coroner's office, Brian Elias said in an interview with Rolling Stone, "Shortly after 9 a.m. this morning, we were notified by law enforcement of a death in Palos Verdes Estates. We responded to the scene and unfortunately confirmed that Mr. Chester Bennington was deceased at the scene." He added that they are investigating his death as a possible suicide.

Linkin Park is one of the most iconic American rock bands that have been reigning in the music industry. The band formed in 1996 and signed a deal with Warner Bros in 1999. It quickly rose to international fame in 2000 with its debut album, Hybrid Theory. Bennington has been with the band since the first album.

Linkin Park's loyal fans loved the deceased singer's dynamic singing style and emotional vocals expressed how he will be irreplaceable on their social media platforms.

Many celebrities and artists who collaborated with the band, including Rihanna, Jimmy Kimmel, and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson expressed their condolences on social media.

On top of his battle with addictions, Chester Bennington has been also struggling with his close friend and singer Chris Cornell's suicide in May this year. Cornell hung himself in his residence. Bennington expressed his immense grief on his social media and wrote, "I can't imagine a world without you in it. I pray you find peace in the next life." Thursday would have been Chris Cornell's 53rd birthday.

Arizona born singer also expressed previously in an interview with Kerrang! Magazine in 2008 that he thought about committing suicide before because he was physically and sexually abused by an older male friend since he was 7 years old and the abuse continued until he was 13 years old. He said, "It destroyed my self-confidence."

Bennington is survived by his wife of 11 years, Talinda Ann Bentley, and six children.
