Summer is almost at the end. Before it ends, visit a nearby winery to relax and enjoy the last summer beauty and quality time with your family.

One of the top wineries to visit is Castello di Amorosa in Napa County, California. It is nestled in Calistoga, the upper Napa Valley that has dry Summer, perfect for wine grapes.

It was built by Dario Sattui, who also owns famous V. Sattui Winery. Sattui is a great grandson of V. Sattui founder Vittorio Sattui. It was originally found in 1885 and was forced to close its door after the Prohibition Law was passed in 1920. The family moved back to Italy after the winery closed.

In 1972, Dario Sattui returned to U.S.A. to restart his family's wine business. After learning wine making skills from various wineries, Sattui reopened V. Sattui Winery on March 4, 1976, in Napa Valley.

V. Sattui started booming with its Italian style wines. Dario Sattui was able to build Castello di Amorosa, 'Castle of Love', to honor his Italian heritage. Every little detail was not overlooked but cared for. He imported 200 containers of artifacts, furnishings, and authentic building materials to build his dream Italian castle.

The Castello was built with 8,000 tons of stones and 1 million antique bricks from Europe using 700-800 years old techniques.

It has 107 Imperial rooms that are equivalent to 3 acres. Each room was decorated with care and details. The underground has cellars and rooms with medieval artifacts including a torture chamber.

The wines sold at Castello di Amorosa are different from wines made in its sister winery, V. Sattui Winery. You can only get the Castello wines from the winery or through its website. There are different types of wine clubs to join the Castello di Amorosa members. One of the most popular Shipping Clubs is La Marchesa that ships three bottles of white, rose, and sweet wines four times per year. Each shipment is about $80-$120 in value. Once you become the member, you can attend the Castello's wine club events and get discounts for the tastings and tours.

Hope you get to enjoy the last bit of summer to its fullest before ends.
