San Jose, California - Amazon opened another physical bookstore in California. This is the second location in the state. The mega online retail store had been experimenting with its brick-and-mortar store concept since 2015. It eventually opened the first store on November 2, 2015, in Seattle, Washington by its headquarter.

Following the first launch, Amazon opened its second bookstore in San Diego, California on September 7, 2016, that was soon followed by seven more stores in Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Washington.

The company plans to open three more stores soon.

This is the first Bay Area bookstore and the people residing in the area are ecstatic to have it opened. The store opened in Santana Row, an outdoor shopping mall in San Jose, California.

It had its "soft opening" get its feet wet on Tuesday and official grand opening on Thursday. This store features books that have high ratings over 4.8 stars and the mega retailer has access to a large pool of customer reviews on books.

Another Bay Area store is planned to open soon in Walnut Creek, California.

This move may wipe out the small independent bookstores, but expect to directly compete with the largest book retailers in the U.S., Barnes and Noble.

Amazon had also required Whole Foods recently and taken over the brick-and-mortar grocery stores' operation. It announced to lower the price of the certain items carried in the high-end grocery market to broaden its target market.
