Chamblee, Georgia - A dog is a man's best friend. At least to a homeless man who slept outside of DeKalb County Animal Services in hope to find his lost dog, his dog truly is his best friend.

A DeKalb County Animal Services staff arrived at his work on early Friday morning last week. He found a young homeless man curled up sleeping outside of the shelter door. The "kennel tech woke him up" and found out the man lost his dog, the shelter spokesperson Karen Hirsch said.

The desperate man who lost his best friend spent all the money he had to take a bus ride to the shelter. When he finally reached his destination, he found out that she was indeed picked up by the shelter workers as a stray but she was sent to a new facility of the shelter located in the different part of the city.

After hearing the heartwarming story, the staff decided to cover the train fare for the man. Soon, the homeless man was able to reunite with his dog, Tata. They were beyond ecstatic.

No one who witnessed the moment could say the man of little possession and his dog should not be together as the love, trust, and bond between them were so apparent.

The shelter staffs who were so touched by their love waived the boarding fees the shelter normally charges owners who pick up their lost dogs. They also offered him to reach out if the duo needs any help.

The man got his best friend back, thanks to the DeKalb County Animal Services and its staffs.

One of the shelter staffs posted a video of the moment the homeless man and his dog Tata reuniting on her Facebook page. The video has garnered over 202,000 views since it was posted.
