In a bid to compete with other domestic rivals and secure a solid user pool, Kakao, South Korean web service giant, will start receiving pre-orders for its latest AI voice assistant speaker "Kakao Mini" this month.
Creating a large pool of users is very important when developing and improving AI as larger the user data, more intelligent the AI gets. Many companies worldwide eagerly run various promotions to invite people to use their platforms.
The AI speaker will provide a variety of services to users, Kakao said in a statement on Tuesday. The speaker would choose a music playlist for its master as well as providing interlocked service with Kakao Talk, South Korea's most popular message app. The web service giant promised to disclose the date later.
Kakao Mini comes with four hi-fi microphones, optimized at listening and understanding what people are talking about. The speaker also features a Bluetooth connection and an external audio plug so that it could be used as a high-quality audio device.
The global AI voice assistant industry has grown rapidly, led by global tech companies such as Google, Apple and Amazon. South Korean tech companies have joined the race recently with their own AI assistant speakers.
