Singer-actress Selena Gomez revealed in 2015 that she was diagnosed with lupus, an autoimmune disease that tricks a body's immune system to attack its own body. She has been battling anxiety, depression, and panic attack since the diagnosis.

Gomez revealed on her Instagram recently that she received kidney transplant due to lupus. In her post, she explains that it was a needed step for her "overall health" and that is why she was laying low this summer instead of promoting her new music.

In the photo Gomez posted, the singer donning a hospital gown is holding hands with actress Francia Raisa who is also wearing a hospital gown, gazing into each other's eyes. They are lying down next to each other on hospital beds with smiles.

Gomez wrote, "There aren't words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me."

She added, "I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis."

Her post garnered nearly 9 million likes and her fans have been expressing their undying support and love to the singer.
