Samsung Electronics will release its first mixed reality (MR) headset HMD Odyssey, co-developed with American tech giant Microsoft, at home next week.

Unlike other VR headsets which provide images created by PCs or consoles, Samsung's head-mounted display (HMD) to be released on November 21 integrates information about the surrounding environment into the projected VR world.

The new headset comes with an integrated 3.5-inch dual AMOLED display, hi-fi headphone speakers tuned by AKG, a premium audio brand, and a pair of motion controllers used for playing games or controlling the user interface of various contents.

Oculus and HTC have released "Rift" and "Vive" respectively, both connected to PCs. Samsung has focused on "Gear VR", a headset using its Galaxy smartphone series.
