From next year, South Koreans will be able to enjoy the luxury of remotely parking cars from their apartments and offices under a revised law that would help invigorate the development of technology related to remote parking or remote driving

South Korea's science ministry said Monday that it would revise the law next year to remove time limitations applied to the wireless remote control devices.

Automated parking or automated driving assistant features were commercialized over a decade ago but South Korean drivers should remain seated in their cars for 90 seconds and get ready to take control because wireless communication could cause interferences.

The ministry said the time limit has restricted complicated maneuvers such as a parallel parking. In case of interference, devices for an emergency stop would be compulsory.
