Samsung released a special app for its QLED TVs to support people with color vision deficiency, also known as color blindness. The app is available for download from Samsung's smart TV app store and also on Google Play.
About eight percent of men and 0.5 percent of women suffer from color vision deficiency, according to the U.S. National Eye Institute. There were many TV and smart device makers who provide hardware or software color correction features but Samsung was a latecomer.
Samsung said Tuesday that it has released the "SeeColors" app for QLED TV. Users can diagnose their personal color deficiencies and TVs will adjust display color settings.
“Samsung is committed to making people’s everyday lives smarter and more convenient through technology and innovation,” Kim Hyeong-nam, a vice president of Samsung's visual display business, was quoted as saying in a statement.
