Samsung, which has adopted fingerprint, iris and facial scanners for user authentication, is seeking to help smartphone users find lost passwords by reading palm prints, according to American IT specialist media outlets.

According to CNET and Engadget, Samsung has published a patent application using palm prints for identification, and an illustrated example shows a person taking a picture of his or her hand with a rear-end camera and the phone displaying a few letters from the password to help the user figure out what the secret word is.

Apple has introduced "Face ID" that recognizes the face of users to its latest flagship smartphone "iPhone X".  In September, 7-Eleven Korea test-operated a convenience store with "Hand Pay" using registered vein prints.
