SEOUL, Dec. 26 (Aju News) --  LG Electronics distributed its deep learning AI platform to its employees encouraging them to develop new products and services featuring the core technology of the fourth industrial revolution.

LG said in a statement that it has distributed "Deep ThinQ", an AI platform featuring deep learning technology, to its employees on Tuesday. The platform is capable of interlinking the self-learning AI technology with other products and services, the South Korean tech giant said.

Any employee with engineering skills can use the AI platform to develop new AI-related services or products, LG said.

Deep learning, also known as deep neural learning or deep neural network, is one of the key features of AI technology. It allows network-connected AI to teach itself to adapt to things by studying unsorted, unstructured data.

According to LG, platforms featuring Deep ThinQ will send collected data to a central cloud server and learn from it to better services provided by LG and its products.

LG's deep learning AI will be able to understand users' life patterns and can be applied to their everyday lives such as a washing machine suggesting the right washing cycle for certain garments or putting a refrigerator into a sleep mode in the middle of the night when its masters are asleep.

The South Korean tech giant had been focusing on AI and its related products and services this year. LG has forged a deal with Naver, the country's largest web service company, to use the internet company's AI platform "Clova" on LG's AI assistant speakers last month.

In the global market, LG introduced models of its connected home appliances including its refrigerators, ovens and washing machines to Google's smart home assistant "Google Home" in October.
