SEOUL, Jan. 09 (Aju News) -- Actor Gong Yoo and actress Jung Yoo-mi's entertainment agency vowed to take strong legal actions against some online users after they recently spread rumors claiming the two stars are preparing for their wedding scheduled for this year.

Entertainment Soop said in a statement on Tuesday that the rumors which have spread through online communities and social media are not true and will take strong actions against people who spread fake rumors.

The agency added that it would also request an investigation over people who left malicious comments against its celebrities.

Gong Yoo and Jung Yoo-mi co-starred in "Silenced" a non-fiction investigative film in 2011 and the two stars took main roles again in "Road to Busan", a zombie cult movie which became a huge hit in 2016. Gong Yoo became an iconic K-pop actor last year after "Goblin", a cable TV drama which the 38-year-old appeared as the main character, became an international hit in the Asian region.

Celebrities being attacked by malicious rumors and cyber bullies are no longer a rare sight in the South Korean entertainment scene. Last year, popular singer IU and group TWICE declared war against hate and malicious comments after being bombarded by cyber bullies on online communities and social media.
