SEOUL, Jan. 11 (Aju News) -- Prosecutors raided the head office of DAS, an auto parts supplier for Hyundai Motor, to find evidence related to a secret fund allegedly stacked for South Korea's former president Lee Myung-bak.

Lee, a businessman-turned conservative politician who served as president from 2008 to 2013, has been frequently mentioned as the next target of prosecution after his jailed successor, Park Geun-hye, who is on trial for her role in a corruption scandal.

Thursday's raid followed complaints from civic group activists and outspoken lawyers who claimed Lee is the real owner of DAS, which is controlled by his elder brother and produces seats and seat structures.

Investigators ransacked the headquarters of DAS in the southeastern city of Gyeongju and the offices and homes of former and incumbent DAS officials, according to a prosecution team in charge of probing Lee's possible corruption.

There have been unconfirmed allegations that DAS embezzled company money and evaded taxes to create a slush fund worth 12 billion won (11.2 million US dollars) for Lee.
