SEOUL, Feb. 12 (Aju News) -- Some 40 people sustained minor injuries after a 4.6 magnitude earthquake hit the southeastern city of Pohang Sunday, sending hundreds of scared citizens evacuating their homes, city authorities said Monday.

The tremors at 5:03 am (2003 GMT) came three months after Pohang, home to the country's largest steel mill run by Posco, was struck by a 5.4 magnitude quake in November,  according to the Korea Meteorological Administration.

Posco and nuclear power plants near the industrial city reported no damage. The city's disaster center said 54 public facilities, including 47 schools, and 80 homes were slightly damaged. Five people were hospitalized and 35 others received treatment at hospitals, all for minor injuries.

The earlier quake in November left about 60 people injured. Scores of aftershocks have rattled the city, causing cracks in many roads, homes, commercial buildings, bridges and utility facilities.
