SEOUL, Feb. 19 (Aju News) -- KT, a South Korean telecom company, will showcase 5G services using telecommunication nodes co-developed with Nokia and Ericsson at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) next week in Spain following their successful test-run at the Winter Olympics.
KT has said the experience of operating a 5G network at the Olympic venue in the eastern ski resort of Pyeongchang would give it the upper hand in competition to commercialize and standardize a 5G network.
KT said it would demonstrate its integrated 5G services at the MWC to be held in Barcelona on February 26. The optimal speed of a 5G network is about 10 times faster than that of 4G long-term-evolution (LTE) networks. Because of its fast speed, it is the ideal network for future technologies such as connected cars and internet on things (IoT).
