SEOUL -- Boy band EXO will become the first K-pop idol to have its own medals issued by a state mint.
The Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation (KOMSCO) said Monday that it would release nine medals next month through cooperation with EXO's agency, SM Entertainment. "The faces of EXO members will be engraved into each medal," a KOMSCO official told Aju News, adding EXO members can participate in the promotion of medals.
Last year, the state mint released a limited set of silver and bronze medals showing the kiss scene of South Korea's K-pop star couple Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo who starred in TV drama hit "Descendants of the Sun".
