SEOUL -- Inspired by the historic inter-Korean summit, some Naengmyeon restaurants were packed with an unexpected inflow of visitors seeking to simulate a cold noodle soup prepared for a dinner for South and North Korean leaders.
Naengmyeon is a Korean dish of long and thin handmade noodles made from the flour and starch of various ingredients, including buckwheat, served in cold beef broth. It originated in the northern part of the Korean peninsula. There are different styles of Naengmyeon, but noodle lovers pick Pyongyang Naengmyeon as the best.
The cold noodle soup grabbed international attention as a top chef from Okryu-gwan, the North's most famous traditional restaurant in Pyongyang, was dispatched to the truce village of Panmunjom at the request of South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

"I don't think I'll be able to have lunch today," Arch, a user from South Korean online community Clien, said after posting an image showing dozens of people waiting in a long line in front of Eulmildae, a famous Pyongyang Naengmyeon restaurant in Seoul.
Similar situations were reported by online users who saw people waiting outside other famous Pyongyang cuisine restaurants in Seoul.
