SEOUL -- The scene of South Korean President Moon Jae-in shaking hands with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in their historic rendezvous at the truce village of Panmunjom for an inter-Korean summit last week was watched by millions of people via Twitter across the world.

According to Twitter on Monday, about 2.5 million people watched the live broadcast of the summit through the social media platform on April 27. About 1.6 million tweets related to the summit were generated on that day, it said.

"Pyongyang Naengmyeon", the Korean cold noodle soup served at the summit dinner, stood out among trending keywords, with more than 100,000 related tweets (mentions). The buckwheat noodle served in cold beef broth also gained an enormous attention in South Korea.

Twitter said a tsunami of tweets shook the social media platform when Moon shook hands with Kim over the borderline and also when they confirmed the common goal of achieving complete denuclearization on the Korean peninsula.
