SEOUL -- In a bid to win back the confidence of consumers, LG Electronics vowed to release improved products step by step with a sincere heart similar to that of South Korea's popular K-pop band BTS.

BTS was chosen as LG's global promotion model for its new flagship smartphone, G7 ThinQ, because the company wanted to appeal to young generations, said Hwang Jeong-hwan, who heads LG's mobile communications division.

"Without seeking a rapid turnaround in our profit, we will seek to change our fundamentals step by step," he said Thursday at a press event marking the unveiling of G7 ThinQ in Seoul.

"If we continue to release improved products with sincerity, I think that we will be able to win recognition from clients" like BTS did, he said. BTS began as an ordinary boy group in the competitive K-pop scene but gained enormous popularity from global fans through heartfelt actions and sincerity.

"Frankly, we ardently wanted to resemble (BTS) and appeal to the younger generation," Hwang said.

G7, showcased first in New York, features a 6.1-inch display with twice the maximum brightness of other ordinary phones, and a dual-lens camera armed with AI.

Just like Apple's iPhone and Samsung's Galaxy series, G7 is fitted with ThinQ, LG's AI platform, to provide convenient and easy user experiences. The phone can also control other home appliances such as TVs, refrigerators and washing machines.
