SEOUL --  South Korean police sought a court-issued warrant Friday to arrest the youngest daughter of Hanjin Group patriarch Cho Yang-ho over allegations that she threw a glass cup during a business meeting with advertising agency officials at her office.

A police station in western Seoul said that Cho Hyun-min, a former Korean Air senior executive, should be arrested because the country's top flag carrier tried to tamper with evidence. She faces charges of assault and obstruction of business. Her father controls Korean Air.

There have been allegations that she threw a glass cup and sprayed plum juice at other participants on March 16. She was released Wednesday from a 15-hour interrogation by police.

Cho Hyun-min, who uses her English name, Cho Emily Lee, told investigators that she lost her temper because the advertising official did not properly answer her questions. She argued some participants got wet accidentally when she pushed a paper cup of juice off her desk to the doorway while seated.

She made a series of apologies for her "foolish and imprudent" behavior, but public fury has been fanned by additional disclosures about Emily's arrogant behavior and insulting remarks at a number of private and business meetings.

The case sparked a flurry of investigations by police, customs officials and transport authorities into possible illegal activities by Cho's family. There have been a series of revelations by whistle-blowers about misconducts and illegal acts by the ruling family.
