WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Donald Trump said Saturday that he is still considering meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on June 12 as originally planned.

Trump had canceled the summit Thursday, citing "tremendous anger and open hostility" in recent North Korean comments. But the North issued a strikingly conciliatory response that it was still ready to talk with the U.S. at any time, and Trump appeared open to having the meeting as planned.

"We're looking at June 12th in Singapore. That hasn't changed," Trump told reporters at the White House. "And it's moving along pretty well, so we'll see what happens." Trump said the inter-Korean talks went "very well" and there's "a lot of good will" surrounding North Korea.

"I just want to mention, we're doing very well in terms of the summit with North Korea," he said. "Looks like it's going along very well. ... I think people want to see if we can get the meeting and get something done, and if we got that done, and if we can be successful in the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, it would be a great thing for North Korea."
