SEOUL -- Boy band BTS has fulfilled its dream by becoming the first K-pop group to reach the top spot on Billboard 200 Chart with "Love Yourself: Tear".

Billboard 200 is a weekly record chart published by Billboard Magazine ranking the 200 most popular music albums in the United States. The seven-member group was awarded "Top Social Artist" by the prestigious music magazine last week for being the most influential on online communities and social media.

The achievement came five days after Suga, a member of BTS disclosed his dream at an album showcase last week. "I wish we top Billboard's singles chart and also take the first place on 'Billboard 200'," he said, adding that he also wants BTS to be at the Grammy's and become the world's most influential group.

The new album, released May 18, launched with 135,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States in the week ending May 24, Billboard said on its website. It's also the first No. 1 for a world music genre album ever and the first in over 12 years for a primarily non-English album.

In 2006, the classical crossover vocal quartet Il Divo topped the list with "Ancora," which blends songs performed in Spanish, Italian and French, along with a track sung partially in English.
