SEOUL -- Boy group BTS expressed gratitude towards South Korean President Moon Jae-in for congratulating the seven-member group for setting a milestone in the Korean music history by reaching the top place on Billboard's weekly popular albums chart.
BTS took the top place on Billboard 200 chart, a weekly chart ranking the 200 most popular albums in the United States on Monday with "Love yourself: Tear" for the first time in 12 years as a non-English album.
Moon said in a tweet uploaded on Monday: "Congratulations to the Seven Music-loving Boys and Their Wings, 'ARMY'!" The tweet attracted hundreds of thousands of comments from ARMY, BTS' international fan club, and garnered more than 600,000 likes.
"Wow. Now that we see this with our own eyes, we are believers!" BTS left a reply on Moon's tweet Thursday. "Thank you for congratulating us for reaching the top place on Billboard 200. It was so heartwarming to hear that you support us and ARMY."
"FAKE LOVE", a hit song included in the latest album, entered the top 10 on Billboard Hot 100 chart for the first time as a K-pop group on Wednesday.
